Since our founding, more than half a million CaringBridge websites have been created and it’s become an indispensable part of many peoples lives. Every 7 minutes, a new CaringBridge website is created for someone experiencing a health crisis.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develops applications based on business needs and requirements.

  • Collaborates with business owners to identify key business objectives relating to CaringBridge applications and technology.

  • Assists in the production of designs and prototypes and implements them using common front-end and back-end technologies.

  • Ensures the performance of front-end layouts and views, including identifying existing issues and opportunities for improvement.

  • Creates unit tests for developed applications to ensure quality is maintained.

  • Creates necessary documentation to support the development of applications.

  • Stays current on market, competition and trends.

  • Keeps manager informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates/communicates plans and activities with others, as appropriate to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.

  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned and has a willingness to take on any task that will help the team and organization succeed.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience in computer science, technology or position of similar responsibilities.
  • Experience with a wide array of programming languages, databases, and development tools.
  • Experience developing with web-based technologies.
  • Experience working in high availability environments.
  • Solid understanding of browser compatibility issues, W3C standards, accessibility guidelines, browser caching and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of (X)HTML, HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, Java, and MongoDB.
  • Experience with smartphone development preferred.
  • Experience working within an agile environment.
  • Experience with Distributed Version Control systems like GIT
  • Experience with Linux and Mac preferred.
  • Strong self-starter with a record of success.
  • Strong collaboration and teambuilding skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to cope with the rapid pace and constant change associated with the industry.
  • Ability to successfully manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with personnel and outside contacts.
